Turns out everything old is new again. 400 years ago, the Aztecs ground locally grown chili peppers, mixed it with spirulina, and formed it into cakes. These cakes tasted really good, the chili powder smoothing out the taste and smell of the spirulina. Chilies also have some properties that may enhance the health benefits of spirulina. Using the ancestors of those same mild, flavorful chili, we were able to create a seasoning that tasted great and delivered all the benefits of the spirulina.
